groundwork · a birthright project program

community wellbeing,
built with people
on the ground.

groundwork works with trusted local partners to support essentials, care, and local enterprise — round by round.

what this is

local partners guide
the work.

groundwork moves support toward the needs that place the most pressure on a community. local partners guide the work because they know the people, the pressure points, and what is already working.

the goal is simple: cover basic needs, respond to urgent care needs, and help local people, groups, and businesses grow.

how we help

three ways we help.

01
essentials

food, household goods, school items, hygiene products, supplies, and everyday costs that affect many people at once.

02
care

health, family, and emergency needs that steady a household when they are met quickly.

03
enterprise

support for small businesses, women's groups, youth skills groups, cooperatives, local producers, and community projects ready to grow.

how we work together

one priority,
round by round.

we build a simple community plan, choose one priority per round, support it, learn what changed, and return again.

1
name the needs
local partners tell us the top needs in essentials, care, and enterprise.
2
choose one round
together, we select one clear priority to support first.
3
buy locally
we work through local suppliers so support moves through the community.
4
track what changed
partners keep simple records, photos where appropriate, and notes on the result.
5
return and grow
each round teaches us what to do next.
where we're focused

starting where trust
already exists.

we are starting with select cities across africa, latin america, and the caribbean — with early focus on trusted local networks in west africa, east africa, and haitian communities in the caribbean.

we're inviting a few thoughtful, community-rooted people to help grow groundwork in select cities. we're looking for people who know their city well — organizers, creatives, small businesses, cooperatives, schools, faith groups, studios, and community leaders already doing meaningful work. the work is simple and human: listen, reach out, build trust, find the right local partners, and help support move where it can do the most good.
